Vintage Japanese Folding Screen - Gold Leaf with Birds and Plum Blossoms
Stunning vintage Japanese Byobu (folding screen). This magnificent piece features a continuous, hand-painted landscape scene across four interconnected panels, rendered with traditional artistry.
The panels are covered in shimmering gold leaf, providing a rich and radiant background that transforms with changing light. The screen features a traditional Japanese landscape motif, capturing delicate white plum blossoms and bare, dynamic branch structures in ink, all rendered against a soft, atmospheric background.
Two elegant green birds are seen in flight, adding a touch of life and balance. The plum blossoms are symbols of spring, resilience, and hope.
The screen is finished with a traditional black lacquered frame that defines its structure and adds a contemporary contrast.
The piece features a red artist’s seal and calligraphy on the lower right panel, indicating its authenticity and origin.

There may be minor signs of age-appropriate wear to the frame. There are also some signs of wear to the front of artwork as you can see in the final image.
